Where's the Money?

Tue, 06/02/2009 - 22:31 | Politics

A Poltico.com piece compares the fund-raising efforts of the Democratic and Republican parties:
Indeed, at a time that was supposed to be a golden era of Democratic fundraising, with a popular president in charge and Congress firmly ensconced in Democratic hands, the early fundraising hauls have been, well, downright ordinary.

Dating back to the start of the year, Democrats barely hold a financial advantage over the GOP, despite the current toothless state of the Republican Party, its dispirited base and its dim prospects of taking back control of any branch of government in 2010.
What does the Democratic Party have to do to increase their fund-raising?

Tavis,

Tavis, It appears to me that this is could be one of the questions that make you go hmmmmmmm. If the Republicans are raising enormous amount of monies and still have a tarnished image, what message underlines the question? Has America finally woke the hell up and reversed the old saying, money talks and bull%%%% walks? Are we completely tired of the money-swinging monsters who take advantage of the average American people intelligence?

Republicans, if they could have it their way, it would be the majoritarian mode hands down no votes. “Majoritarianism offers little protection to minority groups and the republicans has this written in their mission statement. What if the paradigm has finally shifted to what we may call in the good book “The first shall be last, and the last shall be first? What if we have finally come to the breaking point of reaping what you sow? What if we are searching for answers to this unequal equality and justice for all dilemma and God is shifting the seeds of the righteous to good standing? After all, he has said “The battle is not yours, its mine to fight.” Just like any powerful foundation ever existed, it will eventually fall. Do you think that the powerful rich man/woman really knows hungry days, real struggles? If the rich had to trade places with the average American that lives in poverty, I wonder what his/her thoughts would be at that point.

Most of our lust for wealth is a quick illusion that will soon be smoke evaporated into the earth. Do you ever wonder Tavis, why some of the simplest things in life make us happier than a bucket load of monies? I’m not a rich person but I’m not doing badly at all, Thanks to God. But the things that make me happy are helping others. I get this overwhelming feeling inside of the goodness spirit and it’s unlike anything that I have ever experience. So what is money really? It’s a tool that helps us make things happen. But does it really make you happy after you have accomplished and received all the material things on earth? What’s left? Where is the true fulfillment in the heart? Anyone that can continue to run after money and never get the real definition of what life is really about is completely fooling him/herself. Some people run a lifetime and never even give the simple things a thought. Life is beautiful but without love, and helping others what good is life?
