If the FEMA debacle in the aftermath of the Gulf Coast hurricanes is any example, can the federal government successfully implement universal health care?

Universal Health Care for
Universal Health Care for all. Is it pliable? Or is this a well structured political phrase, that's actually catchy to the mind but unreachable? I call this a Marketing Strategic Political Phrase-which should be filed under Universal Health Care along with "No Child left behind"-until further notice of a real workable blueprint of progress is the cover sheet in English.
Robert, hello, believe it or
Robert, hello, believe it or not, there are SOME conservative thinkers who will engage a conversation regarding universal health care. In other words health care for all Americans. The ideal of all Americans being able to get medical treatment when needed could benefit the whole. HIV, STD‘s, Diabetics, Cancer, All timers, Parkinson’s, heart disease, Kidney failure, common cold and flue, etc this list will go on and on.
Disease and illness doesn’t discriminate based upon race, sex, or political affiliation. The majority of Americans can name at least one person close to them dealing with one of the illnesses listed above. Illness doesn’t care if the person is insured or not.
Robert, there is power in numbers, so I feel engaging into the conversation regarding universal health care is not holding our community down, but instead it's uplifting our community. For a person to be able to not prejudge an issue and turn off their filters and listen to the facts is not being weak and dependent. With that being said, Robert, I now challenge you to get in the game; I'm sure your input will be needed and valuable.
I am surprised at the
I am surprised at the comments on this subject. It is obvious that every person that supports the idea that the government in any way provide universal healthcare indicates how weak and dependent these folks are on institutions. We were not created to be this way. Please lift people up and help them see that their only real hope is to care for themselves with minimal interference from government. There absolutely should be care for the very poor, but the rest of this is an impossible idea.
The government can do it if
The government can do it if they want to. The whole Gulf Coast mess is just a failure on Bush's part as an ineffective president. It was totally racial on his part.
Can the GOVERNMENT
Can the GOVERNMENT successfully IMPLEMENT universal health care??? No Way!!!
The GOVERNMENT has been PURCHASED by LOBBYISTS and DON'T operate in the best interest of all AMERICANS; instead our GOVERNMENT (politicians) represent the BIG BUSINESS that fund their campaigns and lifestyles! News flash *** HEALTH CARE is BIG BUSINESS (hospitals, insurance companies, medical supply companies, prescription drugs, over the counter drugs, emergency response people, etc...)***
With that being said, if the AMERICAN GOVERNMENT represented the will of the VOTERS, then I would have FAITH and a HOPE in our GOVERNMENT being able to successfully implement universal health care.
Auto insurance is mandatory
Auto insurance is mandatory in Texas and most states, yet many drivers in Texas do not have it. Just because Hillary mandates health insurance does not mean everyone will partake. Robert Reich, former labor secretary for Bill Clinton, studied both Senator Obama & Hillary's plan - he concluded that Senator Obama's healthcare plan will cover more people.
Only another chaotic episode
Only another chaotic episode like the one in New Orleans can gage if the country can effectively mobilize its resources. If we have learned, then it is possible.
Universal healthcare programs if the people of the country buy into it can make it work. However, I believe it is important for the country to create and establish a process by which the government, business and the people are all on one team. So could it work? Possible. Is it probable? Only time will tell. I do not believe it can happen in 4 years unless the people hold all elected officials responsible for getting it done.
FEMA is obviously being
FEMA is obviously being phased out. THERE IS NO HELP! The coffers are empty in the nation. Universal sounds good, looks better...Attempts are possible. Success is something that comes after the Attempt. Allow children to have 24 hr. 7 days a week 365 days of the year Free access to emergency services. We have spent all of the health care budget in Iraq and pursuing too much business elsewhere on the globe instead of taking care business here in our country. It is difficult to operate for life on a shoestring budget. So let us see this country Attempt to set money aside for healthcare for all children. I am sure there will be success if attempted. Implementing martial law in this country was a success in 2006. Success is possible.
