In the aftermath of President Bush signing the emergency surveillance law, the debate has begun on whether the Democratic Congress did the right thing. Some have called it a “spineless” move; other key Democrats have gone on record with why they broke rank.
Did this Congress pass the emergency surveillance law because it was afraid of being tagged “soft” or did it give the U.S. intelligence community the tools it needs in this era of heightened vulnerability?

This Congress is afraid to
This Congress is afraid to take a strict moral stand and not compromise. In other words it's politics as usual, compromise, earmarks, lobbyists, junkets...etc, etc, etc..and the beat goes on. Hmmmmmmmm
FOCAT-Napoleon was short..lol
FOCAT-Napoleon was short..lol and so is the memory of our president and Congress. Talk about caving in-this Congress has done only one thing it promised and that's the minimum wage increase.
The sad thing about this situation is this-when people are disappointed and loose trust in the people they elect, that is when the future voting becomes a problem for many. How do we keep them honest when we are dealing with so many liars? Is America as good as it's promise? Has America lived up to its name or have we taken on a Communist attitude? What is truth to the people? Is there a such thing as truth in politics? Can we honestly hope for the truth in the future? Or are we playing ourselves like a broken violin? Can truth be released out of its bondage in politics?
Maybe from a true man/woman of God..
Did Congress cave? Was
Did Congress cave? Was Napoleon short? Of course they did. The Democrats have proven themselves to be ineffective as a party - but this should not be a surprise. The two-party system is similar to having a team split and running a scrimmage game against each other – with us as the [ignorant] fans cheering fanatically for either Team 1 or Team 2.
The civil liberties of this country have eroded, and they have eroded extremely quickly. But was that not what the "War on Terror" is about - preserving American ideals and way of life? So why is it that you have to sacrifice these ideals in order to keep them - that's an oxymoronic strategy and way of thinking. But we are lazy and gullible and afraid to challenge the status quo.
“Two legs bad…..four legs good”. “Two legs good……four legs better”. “Two legs are as good as four legs”. “We are not spying on Americans”. “We are not spying on Americans without cause”. “We will not spy again on Americans without cause”.
