Serious Constitutional Violations of Innocent Black Men
I read an article in the Los Angeles Times on May 28,2009 and another article on ireport (www.ireport.com/docs/doc-264272) of a Black LAPD Sergeant who had home searched by two Whites officer from LAPD. He took them to court and the jurors unanimously concluded the officers had "deliberately falsified" information in the warrant affidavit and that their conduct had been "outrageous," yet the NAACP (Now celebrating it’s 100 year anniversary), nor any other Black leaders or organizations has spoke out about this injustice while the two White officers continue to work in our community as this Black man continues to fight this battle alone. Where’s the change.
Being Black in America
I finally found this article at www.irepor.com/docs/DOC-264272 and www.policeone.com/pc_print.asp?vid=1836896. After reading these articles, I was ashamed heard that not one of our Black leaders came forward to assist this young man and that he continue to struggle with hardship alone. This clearly a Civil Rights Violations matter and you would think that the NAACP or any other Black leader or Black advocate would get on board. It truly makes you wonder how far backward we have gone.
where is the NAACP @ when it comes to the civil rights
of the you black youth that are being sentenced to life in Florida for non violent crimes, or in any penal system that keeps you in their system by writing tickets that goes well beyond the time you were to serve and your are mentally ill and don't even know why you are even incarcerated, who will expose the judges and those in authority that sit back and watch this happen who?
“My Boy:”
To The NAACP: Eyes Are Watching You.
Nice Poem that I came upon
A careful man I want to be;
A little fellow follows me.
I do not dare to go astray,
For fear he'll go the selfsame way.
I cannot once escape his eyes;
What'er he sees me do, he tries.
He thinks that I am good and fine,
Believes in every word of mine.
The bad in me he must not see,
This little chap who follows me.
I must remember as I go,
Thru summer's sun and winter's snow,
I'm building for the years to be,
For that little chap who follows me.
Civil Rights 21st Century
After being mia for two generations I think the NAACP is making a positive move. The first initiative should be to educate the young people about the different groups of civil rights fighters that existed back in the sixties. The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis ,Tn. was my educational moment, if these children only knew the truth about the courage and pride that we had as a people at a time when whites only signs were in our face and legally so, we still stood up for our rights. But the kids are taught today that when someone stand up and speak out about a civil rights injustice, the media, society, teachers, bosses, etc... try to isolate them and label them as trouble makers, and the youngsters are learned to shy away from that type of activity not knowing that we wasnt always bought off that easily. I think that the NAACP might be able to really get some things done now because our civil rights are not just for people that being were hung on a regular, but for everyother group that is not favorable to society but now wants to help. Anyway if nothing else I hope that we can bring some hope and pride to our youngsters by educating them and setting an example for them.
NAACP New Mission
I believe it needs to actively work to reach a new level of evaluation for race relations that is not centered on eradicating racism (which is like trying to boil the ocean) but developing the diversity competencies necessary to live effectively in a global society. In the long run, going in this direction will shift the energy and create the "beloved community" that Dr. King talked about.
Was the NAACP Founded by Black Men or Jews?
Did not know this part of history....That Jews were part of the NAACP PLIGHT.
Copied & Paste Article Below:
The conference resulted in a more influential and diverse organization, where the leadership was predominantly white and heavily Jewish American. In fact, at its founding, the NAACP had only one African American on its executive board, Du Bois himself. It did not elect a black president until 1975, although executive directors had been African American. The Jewish community contributed greatly to the NAACP's founding and continued financing. Jewish historian Howard Sachar writes in his book A History of Jews in America of how, "In 1914, Professor Emeritus Joel Spingarn of Columbia University became chairman of the NAACP and recruited for its board such Jewish leaders as Jacob Schiff, Jacob Billikopf, and Rabbi Stephen Wise."[10] Early Jewish-American co-founders included Julius Rosenthal, Lillian Wald, Rabbi Emil G. Hirsch and Wise.
According to Pbs.org "Over the years Jews have also expressed empathy (capability to share and understand another's emotion and feelings) with the plight of Blacks. In the early 1900s, Jewish newspapers drew parallels between the Black movement out of the South and the Jews' escape from Egypt, pointing out that both Blacks and Jews lived in ghettos, and calling anti-Black riots in the South "pogroms". Stressing the similarities rather than the differences between the Jewish and Black experience in America, Jewish leaders emphasized the idea that both groups would benefit the more America moved toward a society of merit, free of religious, ethnic and racial restrictions."[11] Pbs.org further states, "The American Jewish Committee, the American Jewish Congress, and the Anti-Defamation League were central to the campaign against racial prejudice. Jews made substantial financial contributions to many civil rights organizations, including the NAACP, the Urban League, the Congress of Racial Equality, and the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee. About 50 percent of the civil rights attorneys in the South during the 1960s were Jews, as were over 50 percent of the Whites who went to Mississippi in 1964 to challenge Jim Crow Laws."[11]
NAACP 21st Century
Select one of the most pressing issues and thoroughly embrace it, such as the plight of our youth. Begin with the Black male, making them a focal point for the next tens years or so. Develop a strategic plan that will partner with local NAACP presidents, community leaders, local pastors and the community at large. The local presidents, community leaders (3), and pastors (5-10) would be responsible for establishing a relationship with the local school boards, workforce alliances, legal services, health facilities and parenting organizations. If properly facilitated, the plan would include templates for each local and regional NAACP within the U.S. There are many avenues in which to maneuver in order to initiate the recovery and healing of our young males, but one that I believe will be extremely successful is mentoring. Secure a pool of mentors (surrogate fathers) for each region. Surrogate fathers because literally some males have been wounded by the plight of fatherless-ness. The mentors can be obtained from immensely vast organizations such as UPS and various agencies that have a considerable male workforce. Even if each local NAACP president secured 200 males to visit those males in the local jail for a period of time (up to one year), then upon their release the local NAACP branches would be a reservoir of resources for those young males, while the churches within the community would provide a place for the males to continue the mentoring process as well as host organized events for them, for up to one year or slightly longer. Revenue can be generated from: the males themselves after securing employment, their families, solicit the members of Faith Based organizations for yearly NAACP memberships (all funds would go to their local NAACP)……. Utilize media personalities and entertainers to campaign for the program, begin region by region. I believe the NAACP has visibility in 49 or the 50 states. We have to start somewhere………sorry it’s so long.
P. Tampa
that would be perfect foundation
we have to start somewhere where are the rappers and stars when you need them to donate to start a foundation so that we can keep our race on this earth and out of the jails we need strong voices that only fear GOD.
