Yet another politician, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, has admitted to cheating on a spouse. To make matters worse for this governor, he literally disappeared and left his staff and family to fend off press inquiries regarding his whereabouts—all in the name of love.

Why are some people in power positions willing to risk everything by committing infidelity?

The occurrence of grandparents raising their grandchildren is getting more media attention. A recent case in Philadelphia made headlines:
…trouble came after their fourth grandchild, Steven, was born in 2001. The Brasovankins' son said he couldn't care for the child, who had developmental problems, including hyperactivity. Family members said Steven's mother was a crack addict.

An MSNBC article references a Census Bureau report which indicates approximately 1 in 4 children were living in households without a father—that translates to 56% of Black children living in single-parent families:
More than 19 million children — about one in four — were living in households where no father, biological or other, was present, according to a Census Bureau report in 2005. The statistics also show that this burden falls more heavily on black children.
