Why is it that Americans don’t seem to have a problem with giving their birthdate to an airline for travel security purposes or other information online, but don’t want to “give up their freedoms” for healthcare?

More than one in four American households, including more than half of black households, use check cashers, payday lenders or pawnbrokers rather than a bank, according to a Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation report

A New York Times piece on the film Precious asks the question: Is this film a “reinforcement of noxious stereotypes or a realistic and therapeutic portrayal of a Black family in America?”
“Not since ‘The Birth of a Nation’ has a mainstream movie demeaned the idea of black American life as much as ‘Precious,’ ” Mr. White wrote in his review.
